SIOUX FALLS, S. D. (KSFY) – One man on a long journey to raise awareness about brain disease research spent Wednesday in Sioux Falls.
Evan Dungate has been riding his bike across the country for the past month. He started in Canada, crossed the border into Washington and made his way west.
He said he is riding for a cause. Recently, his great uncle died of Alzheimer’s Disease and his grandmother has also been diagnosed with the disease.
After planning his trip, Dungate decided to give it purpose.
“I looked into organizations that work to raise awareness and research about brain diseases, and I ended up finding the Brain Research Foundation, which is a non-profit based in Chicago, and they guarantee 100 percent of the funds go to research, which I was passionate about because I’m on the side of making a better future for everyone,” he said.
From here, Dungate is heading to Jackson, Minnesota. He hopes to eventually make it to New York.
