Lollypop farm closed Tuesday for cleanup after kitten diagnosed with contagious disease

Fairport, N.Y. (WHAM) – Lollypop Farm’s main Fairport location will be closed Tuesday, October 10th for a precautionary cleanup.

The organization says a kitten was recently diagnosed with feline panleukopenia virus, also known as feline distemper.

It’s a highly contagious viral disease that can threaten the life of kittens and cats.

Lollypop Farm says any cats potentially exposed to the virus have been quarantined, and the health of all cats in the shelter will be monitored closely to ensure that it is an isolated case.

Lollypop Farm will be Closed for an “exhaustive” cleaning during the Columbus Day holiday on Monday, and will remain closed the following Tuesday.
