Event organiser Kyle Forrest said despite the impressive social media numbers he was happy with the actual turnout for the “scream off”.
“I originally saw a YouTube video about one that was done in America,” he said.
“I thought it was a bit of fun so I made one in Brisbane and it kinda took off a bit more than expected.”
Mr Forrest said he was a huge fan of Goku, the protagonist of the Dragon Ball anime series.
“I just like the size of him, how he’s into all of the fitness stuff and I think anime is a bit of an escape from the everyday world.”
Mr Forrest also promised more “scream-offs” in the future, so get your ears ready Brisbane.
Scream Like Goku was one of three viral events happening in the city on Saturday, with 2000 people saying on social media they were attending the first annual Naruto run through Queen Street and 6000 expressing interest.
